Modulbroker (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates a marketplace that connects buyers with modular-home manufacturers and service providers. This Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Swedish data-protection law.

1. What data we collect

• Account data — name, email, password (hashed by Firebase Auth), role (buyer/vendor), company details, KYC status for vendors.
• Marketplace activity — listings, buy/service requests, orders, chat messages, favourites, bids.
• Payment data — order amounts, payment status, PayPal transaction references. Card details are processed by PayPal; we do not store full card numbers.
• Technical data — IP address, browser type, device info, pages visited (if analytics cookies are accepted).
• Contact / lead forms — name, email, phone, project details you submit.

2. Why we process your data (legal bases)

• Contract — to create your account, run marketplace features, process orders, and provide customer support (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
• Legitimate interests — to secure the platform, prevent fraud, improve product quality, and communicate service updates (Art. 6(1)(f)).
• Consent — for non-essential cookies (analytics/marketing) and optional marketing emails (Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw consent anytime.
• Legal obligation — bookkeeping, tax, and dispute records where required (Art. 6(1)(c)).

3. How we use your data

• Authenticate users and protect accounts
• Show listings, manage orders, and enable buyer–vendor messaging
• Process payments and vendor earnings through PayPal
• Send transactional emails (order updates, payment status, security notices)
• Improve the site when analytics consent is given
• Respond to support requests at info@modulbroker.com

4. Sharing your data

We share data only as needed to run the marketplace:

• Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, storage
• PayPal — payment processing and vendor payouts
• Email delivery providers — transactional messages
• Other users — limited profile/listing info needed for transactions (e.g. vendor name shown to a buyer)

We do not sell your personal data.

5. International transfers

Some processors (for example Google Firebase or PayPal) may process data outside the EEA. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the provider’s approved transfer mechanism.

6. Retention

• Account data — while your account is active, then deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period after closure unless law requires longer retention.
• Orders / financial records — typically up to 7 years for accounting obligations.
• Support emails / leads — as long as needed to handle the request, then deleted or archived.
• Consent records — kept to demonstrate GDPR compliance.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

You may request:

• Access to your personal data
• Correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion (“right to be forgotten”) where applicable
• Restriction or objection to certain processing
• Data portability
• Withdrawal of consent for cookies/marketing

8. Cookies

9. Security

We use industry-standard controls including encrypted transport (HTTPS), Firebase Authentication, access-restricted Firestore rules, and server-side validation for payments. No method of transmission is 100% secure; please use a strong unique password.

10. Children

Modulbroker is intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes may be communicated by email or an in-app notice.
